Klädkammaren - A Story From Thrift Lover to Shop Owner
Linda, the founder of Klädkammaren Töreboda, has always had an eye for the hidden potential in old items. From a young age, she loved browsing flea markets, seeing possibilities in everything from candlesticks and lamps to vases and picture frames. But it wasn’t until she worked in a clothing store that the idea of starting her own business took shape.
"I had been working in a clothing store for five years, and the previous owner introduced second-hand items into the shop. I quickly noticed how much customers appreciated the opportunity to drop off their clothes and have them sold. That inspired me to do some research – I visited other second-hand stores in nearby towns, and eventually, I found the perfect location right in the center. At that moment, I thought: Let’s go for it!"
With her retail experience and entrepreneurial spirit, the transition felt natural. And it turned out even better than she had dared to hope.
"I was shocked at first – things went so well! The response was overwhelmingly positive. People believed in me and my idea, and I received so much love and support from the very beginning. It gave me a sense of calm."
The Vision for Klädkammaren
Klädkammaren is more than just a store – it’s a place where clothes get a second life, and customers can make sustainable choices without compromising on style.
"My vision is for second-hand shopping to feel fresh and inviting. When customers step into the store, I want them to almost forget that it’s a second-hand shop – it should be neat, beautiful, and inspiring. One of my biggest passions is helping customers find exactly what they’re looking for!"
She has already taken steps to expand her vision by selling carefully curated vintage pieces through Vinty, allowing unique clothes to find new owners beyond Töreboda.
And what about the future? It might bring even more exciting developments.
"I’m considering creating a small café corner in the shop – a space where people can sit down, have a coffee, and chat while taking a break from shopping. I think it would be really cozy!"
Favorite Products and Memorable Moments
One of Linda’s biggest passions is handbags, which also happen to be one of the shop’s most popular items. She also loves upcycling and collaborating with customers to give old items new life.
"I’ve even asked customers before: ‘Can I revamp this and sell it for you?’"
But what truly warms her heart is the incredible support she received from the very beginning.
"The fact that so many people believed in me and my idea right away was amazing. It gave me confidence and reassured me that I was on the right path. And that’s exactly how I want my customers to feel when they shop with me – that second-hand is absolutely fantastic!"
